For one or two guests
Prof.ssa Grazia, a former public school teacher, is now retired. She
has a degree in Italian literature and has 25 years of teaching experience.
In addition to grammar, Grazia can teach Italian history and literature.
Her husband, Giovanni, has a degree in the history of art and teaches
music at a local school. He composes and performs. Two lively hosts who
extend a warm welcome to their guests.
The two hosts live in a large, renovated country house in the famous Chianti
wine-producing area to the south of Florence. The house is surrounded
by a large garden in a very peaceful country setting. It is comfortably
furnished, and the student's room, on the first floor, has its own private
bathroom.
Cat around the house. The house is a few minutes from the centre of the
village of San Polo in Chianti, and 20km from the centre of Florence.
There is a bus from San Polo to Florence every day. Siena can easily be
reached. Guests will have the opportunity of meeting many people from
the cultural circles of Florence who come to visit them.

Saturday - Arrival in the afternoon. Welcome meal with
the host family.
Sunday - Breakfast. Excursion by family car to the castle
of Volpaia through the Chianti countryside. Stop for a snack. On to the
Monastery and XII century Badia di Coltibuono, then to Castellina in Chianti,
one of the principal wine centres of the region. Dinner in a typical restaurant.
Monday - Breakfast. Excursion to the medieval hilltop
fortress of Monteriggioni and on to visit Siena. Snack. Evening meal at
home.
Tuesday - Breakfast. Morning visit to the colourful outdoor
market at Figline Valdarno. Lunch at home. Excursion to Fiesole, dinner
in a pizzeria and late evening visit to Florence.
Wednesday - Breakfast. Free day for the guests. Lunch
on your own. Evening meal at home .
Thursday - Breakfast. Morning excursion to the medieval
towns of Montefioralle and Greve in Chianti. Visit to wineshop and typical
local food shops. Lunch at home. Free afternoon for the guest. Evening
meal at home.
Friday - Breakfast. Free morning for the guest. Lunch
at home. Excursion to the Etruscan town of Volterra. Evening meal at a
pizzeria.
Saturday - Breakfast. Morning departure.
Excursions, and family conversation in English or in Italian.
The family will help the guests plan their visits to Florence during free
time. Guests are welcome to use the lounge and garden for rest and conversation.

Tuesday - Breakfast. Morning visit to the lively outdoor
market at Figline Valdarno which offers a wide selection of goods. Lunch
at home. Three hours of Italian language tuition. Evening meal.
Wednesday - Breakfast. Three hours of Italian language
tuition. Lunch at home. Excursion and walk around the centre of Florence.
Stop at a pizzeria. Florence by night.
Thursday - Breakfast. Morning excursion to the medieval
towns of Montefioralle and Greve in Chianti. Visit to a wine shop and
typical local food shops. Lunch at home. Three hours of Italian language
tuition. Evening meal at home.
Friday - Breakfast. Three hours of Italian language tuition.
Excursion to the hilltop Etruscan town of Volterra. Evening meal at a

Lessons, excursions, and family conversation in Italian.
One of the half-day excursions can be changed with a visit to a fashion
outlet in the Valdarno area.
