CARLA & PIERO
LARGE PATRICIAN HOUSE
ON THE HILLS AROUND FLORENCE
"…wonderful are the pictures the Florentine
hills call up before the traveller's eye; one fancies their ancient villas
and woodland churches must rest upon ground in honour of the ancient heathen
gods of the soil."
Prof.ssa Carla, formerly a public school teacher, with 30 years of teaching
experience, is now retired. She has a degree in Italian literature. She
enjoys classical music and opera, art, the theatre, gardening and cooking.
Her husband, Piero is a retired agent and is a well-known author of books
on local history and sailing, giving lectures in schools and interviews.
An excellent conversationalist.
Silvia is a researcher at the European University in Florence. She now
lives on her own and visits the house frequently. Stefano studied law
in Florence and is currently active as a lawyer in the city. Stefano also
lives in Florence. The household is frequented by a number of friends
from the better circles in Florence. A splendid setting for those guests
who appreciate the Tuscan way of life.
The hosts live in a large country villa with many rooms in a magnificent
setting on a hillside just outside the city, beautifully surrounded by
a garden and olive groves. Piano and period furniture in the house. One
dog and two cats, no smokers. The bus stop is a ten-minute walk from the
house, The family drives into town every day and will take you in - a
ten-minute drive. On foot it takes about 25 minutes.
